Since its inception, the Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel (STAP) has been guided by a distinguished group of Chairpersons who have provided strategic leadership and scientific direction to the Panel’s work.
STAP provides independent scientific and technical advice to the Global Environment Facility (GEF), ensuring that its investments are informed by the best available science, evidence, and innovation. The Panel identifies emerging issues, promotes integrated and evidence-based approaches, and supports the design of impactful, resilient, and scalable interventions across all GEF focal areas: biodiversity, chemicals and waste, climate change mitigation and adaptation, international waters, land degradation, and integrated programs.
