This STAP Information Note examines the potential of emerging technologies in enhancing the Global Environment Facility’s (GEF) capacity to achieve lasting and transformative environmental outcomes. It considers how emerging technologies can support resilience, transparency, innovation, and systems transformation across the GEF Partnership, while also assessing the risks, trade-offs, and enabling conditions needed for responsible deployment. The analysis is supported by a suite of case studies illustrating the identified key issues. The note concludes with strategic guidance for scaling impactful, inclusive, and sustainable technological solutions.
