The Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel (STAP) will participate in the 70th Global Environment Facility (GEF), the 5th GBFF, and the 39th (LDCF/SCCF) Council Meetings, scheduled virtually from 15 to 19 December 2025. This key gathering brings together representatives from 186 member countries to review and approve policies, programs, and strategic directions that guide GEF investments, shaping global efforts to address pressing environmental challenges.
As the GEF’s main decision-making body, the Council plays a pivotal role in setting priorities for action. STAP’s participation ensures that these decisions are informed by the best available science and technical expertise. During the meeting, STAP will provide independent, evidence-based advice on critical agenda items, engage with Council Members, Agencies, and stakeholders, and support informed decision-making.
By contributing scientific insights, STAP helps strengthen the effectiveness, credibility, and impact of GEF-supported initiatives, ensuring they deliver meaningful benefits for partner countries and the global environment.
